5G is the successor of LTE. LTE is better known to the general public as 4G of the public mobile operators. In a private network, however, the data remains on premise and use is made of a piece of spectrum that is reserved for the licensee of that frequency. This allows you to work freely and without interference. When you use a private network, you have, as it were, your own connectivity bubble.

As the only operator in Flanders and Brussels, Citymesh has had 2x20Mhz spectrum in the 3.5 Ghz frequency block since 2015. The same frequency block has been designated by Europe as the primary spectrum for the roll-out of 5G. Unlike the other telecom operators, Citymesh does not offer solutions to consumers. The spectrum is entirely reserved for companies that want to develop their own Private 5G-ready network locally.

As a result, Citymesh can now offer 4G-now, 5G-next networks that are ready to take the next step in the fourth industrial revolution.


What makes Private 5G so interesting compared to WiFi? First and foremost, a lot less access points are needed because you can radiate a higher, legal, power. The other advantages are listed below.
