5G IS NOW technology fair attracts over 250 visitors

28/09/2021

On 28 September 2021, the technology fair 5G IS NOW took place in the ABC Tower of the Port of Zeebrugge. 5G IS NOW was organised by Citymesh in collaboration with Nokia and Cegeka. During this event, the practical possibilities of 5G were highlighted in a professional setting. The exhibition was a great success: more than 250 visitors from different sectors, 12 partners and 9 speakers were present to share knowledge about the applications of 5G. Some of the highlights of the fair were the visit of Minister Petra De Sutter, the demonstration with the Safety Drone, the use cases of the exhibitors and the interesting presentations by experts.

VISIT OF MINISTER OF TELECOMMUNICATIONS PETRA DE SUTTER

Minister of Telecommunications Petra De Sutter opened the fair and personally visited all exhibitors. This visit fits in with the mission to ensure the smooth auctioning of 5G rights and to support Belgian operators. She was also one of the speakers at the event and spoke about “Future visions for a 5G industry in Belgium”. This was followed by expert talks from Mitch De Geest (CEO of Citymesh), Shkumbin Hamiti (Head of Ecosystems & Partnerships at Nokia) and Marc Nuytemans (CEO of the Blue Cluster), among others. During these presentations, visitors were able to learn about concrete 5G applications and were inspired to implement digital transformation in their companies using mobile private networks. The speaker programme was led by Hanne Decoutere.

THE USE CASES CHARMED THE VISITORS

Use cases played a leading role during the event. Visitors could discover at first hand how a 5G network could support their operations and increase efficiency. The exhibitors who showcased their technologies are professionals active in industry, logistics, offshore, healthcare and entertainment. They may be from different sectors, but they have one thing in common: they use 5G and private mobile networks to take their products and/or operations to a higher level. Some of the exhibitors included Siemens, Zorabots and Flash. Zorabots, for example, presented their new virtual robot solution. Thanks to 5G technology, both the physical and the virtual world can interact. Imagine a shared virtual 3D world, or worlds that are interactive, immersive and collaborative.

Now this is it.
