Plain sailing: offshore connectivity for Neart na Gaoithe

  • Offshore

Around 20 km from the Scottish coast, construction of the Neart na Gaoithe windfarm is underway. The project is certainly ambitious: the 54 wind turbines will cover an area of 105 km². The name reflects its purpose: Neart na Gaoithe is Scottish Gaelic for ‘wind power’. But HSM Offshore, which is managing part of the project, is relying not just on the power of the wind, but also on the power of Citymesh, as we provide temporary internet connectivity to the two offshore high-voltage substations.
